Writing to your leaders is an important way to advocate for your industry! We have provided some important talking points to bring up when you communicate with your legislators! Don’t forget to give them your testimony! You are part of their community!
Market Contraction: Banning THCa and THCp products would eliminate a significant segment of the hemp market, reducing revenue streams for local businesses.
Economic Impact: The hemp industry contributes millions in tax revenue to the state. Restricting these products could lead to substantial financial losses for both businesses and the state economy.
Job Losses: A downturn in the hemp market may result in layoffs, affecting thousands of employees within the industry.
Consumer Access: Consumers seeking hemp-derived products for wellness or recreational purposes would have fewer options, potentially driving them to unregulated markets.
Regulatory Confusion: Differentiating between authorized and unauthorized cannabinoids could create compliance challenges for businesses, leading to potential legal issues.
Competitive Disadvantage: Neighboring states with more lenient regulations might attract Tennessee consumers, bringing a disadvantage to local businesses.
Stifling Innovation: A ban on these cannabinoids could deter hemp research and development, hindering industry innovation.
Enforcement Costs: Implementing and enforcing a ban would require additional resources, diverting funds from critical areas.
Collect Donations for the TGC at your Register: Add a donation option on your register or POS! Collected donations can be put towards your membership dues! We are a registered PAC, meaning we are a not for profit organization! Our work relies on the industry’s support! Below you can find an easy to use guide on setting up your POS to collect donations!
Create an item in POS that is non taxable with a variable price (able to insert whatever price)
Add all items to cart and see what the total is—make mental note of the difference in change to equal a dollar (for round up) OR customers can voice a larger donation if they wish
Talking point to customers;
Talk over legislation (You can use the talking points provided or the QR code provided above)
Ask to take action with a simple round up on transaction OR if they feel extra called, we can do a donation of their choice since you manually add the discount
